As another women’s month draws to a close, I want to take one final moment to remind women everywhere that they are not alone. “You are enough, exactly as you are right now.” A mantra I have returned to regularly in the past weeks and what guided me as I wrote the following ode to women everywhere. Remember. You are seen.
To women around the world on women’s month
Those who are thriving and those who are merely surviving
Those who are tired and those who run carefree
You are seen.
To the young girls
Inquisitive, innocent, and full of joy
Free to run, play, get dirty, make mistakes, and be a child
You are seen.
To the young women
Full of optimism, promise, and determination
Forging a new path built on the legacy of others
You are seen.
To the professional women
Focused, entrepreneurial, and eager to succeed
Establishing careers in a world still not built for them
You are seen.
To the mothers young and old
Loving, hopeful, and selfless
Providing enduring care and support without need for recognition
You are seen.
To the middle-aged women
Tired, anxious, but full of wisdom
Who are navigating a new freedom and the start of another chapter
You are seen.
To the women in their later years
Patient, reflective, and admiring
Who’s legacy forms the foundation of which younger women now stand
You are seen.
To women everywhere
Invisible and visible
Continuing the work of generations past in face of continued opposition
You are enough and you are seen.
May the actions and inspiration of this women’s month keep us energised until next year!
